Harry Potter and The Black's Family Legacy

Seventeen: Junior Auror Tonks

24 hours Earlier

“So, what brings you back to England?” Nymphadora Tonks greeted her long-time friend Charlie Weasley. She hugged him before they both took a seat at their table.

“Things are changing in the UK,” Charlie shrugged. “War is coming!”

“Yes, I have heard a lot of what is going on through the Department and my mum,” Tonks replied as she looked out the window over Carkitt Market. The Hard Spell Café was a favourite haunt of Charlie and Tonks, whenever he was in England they met up. Fitted into a narrow gap between a food store and a second-hand book found on Market square.

“How does it feel being a fully-fledged Auror?” Charlie gave the woman his signature smile, her heart thumping in her chest.

“Junior. I have only been a Junior Auror for a month, I am still under probation for another twelve months,” Tonks answered.

“Have you got a partner?” the redhead asked. Tonks thought she saw an emotion flicker across his face.

“No, it is to whoever I am assigned. Usually, it is Auror Captains Shacklebolt or Proudfoot,” Tonks replied.

“I hear Sirius Black took on the mantle of Duke of Anglia. How does it feel being back in the family?” Charlie asked changing the subject. He took a drink from his Gillywater with a raised eyebrow. Tonks laughed but noticed a ring she had never seen before. It was silver with an engraved circle and two swords in the centre. She considered asking about it but instead answered his question.

“Not much different for me, now I have an extended family,” the woman replied.

“And the Boy Who Lived as your cousin,” Charlie stated.

“Harry hates that term, but yes we are officially family,” Tonks retorted then looked around, seeing no one taking notice of them. She whispered an incantation. “Sirius and Harry are starting a third side in the war.”

“You what?” Charlie spluttered as he took a drink from his water. Before Tonks could reply a waitress came to take their order. As soon as the server left Charlie gave his friend a look.

“Sirius and the family have found out a great many things about Dumbledore, he is not as light as he seems. Harry will kill me for telling you, but he was abused at the hands of his Muggle family,” Tonks revealed. Charlie whistled lowly.

“My mum adores Dumbledore, so do Ron and Ginny. Though I think Ginny was upset with the Headmaster after the Chamber incident.”

“A lot of the pure-bloods sway to the side of the dark, opposing Dumbledore for his ‘Muggle-loving’ ways on principle. But even the Progressives are beginning to look at the old man differently,” Tonks told her friend insightfully. She stopped as a waiter produced their food.

“Bill leans towards His Grace for advice, since dad stepped down as Lord Weasley,” Charlie explained once the waiter had left. “I think he is shifting the family to more neutral leanings. He has made me his heir, until he and Fleur produce a child.”

“I heard all about Fleur, Bill seems rather taken with her,” Tonks laughed. “That was the whole reason for coming back to England.”

“Mum does not like her, and Ginny calls her Phlegm,” Bill admitted.

“Yes, well, no offence, but if Harry’s stories are anything to go by Ginny is not very nice,” Tonks pulled a face.

“None taken. I can see my mother has gotten her claws into the two youngest. Percy moved out as soon as he could while Fred and George look like they have a premise in Diagon Alley,” Charlie shrugged as Tonks looked out the window. As the sky darkened a wizard came around and lit the old-fashioned lamps.

“I heard about Ginny’s possession recently. Was it the second time?” Tonks asked.

“Yes,” Charlie replied with a frown. “After she was possessed, nothing happened, and I think that was down to mum and Dumbledore. She travelled to Germany for a Wizarding Youth Camp in the summer, but when she returned dad had arranged a Mind Healed.”

“When was she possessed a second time?” Tonks asked, taking the man’s hand.

“Dad and the Mind Healer think sometime time in Germany; however, the healer did not notice anything when he started their sessions,” Charlie answered grimly. “If You Know Who is that good at hiding, could anyone be possessed?”

“So, what is the real reason you have come back to England?” Tonks asked trying to change the subject. “Do not tell me it is the War.”

“Perhaps I just missed your scintillating company,” Charlie shrugged leaning back in his chair, having finished his meal.

“You are full of bull,” Tonks returned.

“I love Romania and the Dragons, but it is very lonely out there. I have a transfer back to a small reservation in Wales. I want to see more of my family,” was the answer Tonks got. She looked at her best friend and wondered whether the redhead returned her feelings.

“Do you want to come back to mine for coffee?” Tonks asked hesitantly. Charlie looked at her for a long few minutes before finally nodding. They quickly paid up and headed into the frosty night. Few were around Carkitt Market and the surrounding streets at this time of night. Everyone hurrying to get home to warmth. The pair swiftly made their way to Horizon Alley and the residential area of Diagon Alley. Tonks led Charlie to her small third floor flat unlocking the door.

Charlie looked around as Tonks went to the small kitchenette. The living room cum diner cum kitchen was a chaotic mess, but he knew Tonks would not have it any other way. In the corner the fireplace sat ready to receive or travel by Floo. Tonks’ couch was shabby, and he took notice of the old Wizarding Wireless on the kitchenette counter.

“Do you want a coffee or a tea?” the woman asked.

“You know that is not the real reason you wanted me to come back here,” Charlie strode forward with several long steps until he took the purple-haired woman in his arms. “I know you have liked me for a long time.”

“But you could have anyone. I did not think you would even consider me,” Tonks looked away.

“You are so daft, Dora. You are the only woman I have ever looked at,” Charlie replied gently turning the meta-morphmagus’ head towards his. He leaned down and captured her lips with his own. Tonks clung to the muscled back of the redhead as she finally let her emotions go. She never expected for the kiss to be so good. She was the first to pull away looking up at the man with a silly grin.

“I am not that easy on a first date,” Tonks told him.

“Good thing we have known each other for over a decade then,” Charlie replied as Tonks sauntered towards her bedroom unzipping her dress as she went.

26th September 8.45pm. Auror Bullpen

Nymphadora Tonks had a silly grin on her face as she twiddled the quill in her hand remembering the night before with Charlie. He had left her flat this morning with a kiss promising to come back. She loved the new relationship with Charlie, glad he returned her feelings.

“What’s got you so happy?” Callum Proudfoot, Auror Captain asked leaning over the desk. He wore the dark grey combat robes of a senior Auror. He was well kitted out with a vambrace and shoulder armour. Proudfoot’s deep brown hair was greying at the temples, but the neatly shaven side made him look youthful even at thirty-eight.

“Nothing, happy to be at work,” Tonks replied quickly. She shifted the red combat Auror robes she wore into a more comfortable position.

“I didn’t know you liked the graveyard shift,” Proudfoot drawled.

“She got laid last night,” one of her colleagues yelled from across the bullpen. Proudfoot’s warm brown eyes twinkled with laughter.

“So, who’s the lucky fella that has finally plucked your heart? Don’t tell me it’s that Lupus fella?” Proudfoot grinned.

“Nah, I realised he’s a bit old for me,” Tonks answered.

“It must be Weasley,” Shacklebolt boomed striding up to the pair. Tonks groaned smacking her head on the desk.

“We have a winner,” Proudfoot laughed at the woman.

“It’s about damn time,” the dark skinned Auror gave the woman a proud look. She had been his partner for the last year of her training. Before either of them could say anything, Madam Bones and Remus Lupin appeared from the Director’s office. Scrimgeour loped along behind them. All the Aurors come to attention.

“There has been a serious attack on a student at Hogwarts,” Madam Bones began, “Captain Proudfoot, Junior Auror Tonks you will be the initial investigating, Team. I will gather Red and Blue squad to send through within the hour.”

“Yes, Ma’am!” Tonks and Proudfoot snapped off salutes.

“Mister Lupin will fill you in on the way to the Floo room,” Bones concluded. She and Scrimgeour bustled off as Proudfoot and Tonks fell in beside Remus Lupin on the way to DMLE Floo room.

“Harry Black was attacked about thirty minutes ago by a snake. He has sustained serious injuries and is currently in a coma,” Lupin explained drawing a gasp from Tonks. “Miss Granger managed to capture a snake, a lowland Copper according to Healer Ward. It is hyper-aggressive.”

The trio reached the Floo room as Lupin finished his explanation. The trio quickly passed through the Floo emerging in the Hospital Ward at Hogwarts to hear angry voices.

“This is my school,” Dumbledore replied angrily, “I will not allow Aurors on these grounds.”

“Excuse me, sir, but we have permission when a crime has been committed,” Proudfoot strode forward slightly behind Lupin. “Madam Bones has sent Junior Auror Tonks and me to perform a preliminary investigation. We ask that you seal the castle and have everyone sent to the Great Hall; there will be more aurors coming within the hour.”

“Do what you like!” Dumbledore whirled around in anger stalking out of the Hospital Ward. Tonks was stunned seeing the grandfatherly visage destroyed.

“You shall have our co-operation on this,” McGonagall replied, leaving with more dignity. Tonks took in the small group of people surrounding the bed of a peaceful looking Harry. Sirius Black, of course, was leaning over his eldest son. Hermione Granger, the Muggle-born witch that had captured Harry’s heart was stroking his hand. Tonks’ own mother was talking quietly to a Healer in the green robes of St Mungo’s.

“Who was the first person on the scene?” Proudfoot immediately asked taking a notebook from an expanded pocket.

“Me, sir, Hermione Granger,” the frizzy-haired witch replied looking at the two Aurors.

“As you are underage, we cannot interview you without a guardian present,” Proudfoot automatically replied.

“She is a Vassal of the House of Black; therefore I can function as her guardian,” the Duke of Anglia straightened up.

“Ok, your Grace, perhaps we can go to an empty classroom and interview Miss Granger,” the senior Auror told them. Getting a nod from both, they had soon found an empty classroom to sit in comfortably. Tonks immediately set up a parchment and a dicta-quill.

“Auror Captain Callum Proudfoot and Junior Auror Nymphadora Tonks interviewing Hermione Granger on the Twenty-sixth of September Nineteen Ninety-Five at Nine thirty-four PM. His Grace, the Duke of Anglia, Sirius Black the Tenth acting as Loco Parentis.” Tonks looked over the parchment, reading what the dicta-quill was writing. She looked up at Proudfoot giving him a nod.

“Miss Granger, you were the first one on the scene? Can you tell us what happened?” Proudfoot settled back in the hard chair opposite the teen.

“Harry and I had not long returned from the library with the first years. He had a brief conversation with Colin Creevey then went to bed,” Hermione explained without any embellishments to the story. “Perhaps ten minutes later everyone in the common room heard him scream. A prefect and I were first in his bedroom, I saw a snake go under one of the beds and summoned it.”

“Can you tell me who sleeps in the same room as Lord Rendlesham?” Proudfoot asked with his notebook flipped open.

“Neville Longbottom, Seamus Finnigan, Dean Thomas and Ronald Weasley,” Hermione answered. Proudfoot and Tonks continued to ask questions trying to draw out any information, even small nuggets from Hermione. Finally, the Auror Captain called an end to the interview.

“Have you got the snake with you?”  the man asked. Hermione handed over the clear jar with the reddish snake in. The snake instantly tried to bite the Auror. Proudfoot placed the jar on a desk, then vanished the jar. Before the snake could move an inch, it was frozen.

“Can you identify this snake?” Proudfoot questioned his partner. Tonks could see Hermione was itching to answer.

“That is a non-magical snake called a Lowland Copperhead typically found in Oceania,” Tonks returned.

“Has the snake been Imperiused?”  Tonks immediately began performing several spells. Hermione was leaning over eager to see what the older witch was doing.

“No, preliminary tests show several spells, but no trace of the Imperious Curse. It has been made hostile using several curses and one I am sure aims it towards a target, but I do not recognise the spell.”

“Well done, those are the spell’s I detected also. The targeting spell is an old dark spell, I have barely heard of it myself,” Proudfoot explained.

“Can you detect a Magic signature?” Hermione asked curiously. Proudfoot looked surprised and Tonks grinned at the girl.

“You know your magic, Miss Granger. However, in this case the signature is garbled, I cannot get an accurate reading to exam against others,” the Senior Auror returned, but was interrupted from saying anything else as knock interrupted them. “Come in,”

“Captain, we were told you were nearby. Red and Blue squads have convened in a room off the Great Hall,” a Junior Auror told him. Proudfoot thanked the Auror and concluded the interview. Sirius led Hermione to the Great Hall as Proudfoot and Tonks made their way to the ‘investigation room.’ Inside were the two Auror squads, made up of five men and women. Tonks could see the two senior Aurors by their grey cloaks conversing in the corner. Already someone had set up a board and placed a picture of Harry on it. The Meta-morphmagus followed her partner as he approached the other Senior Aurors given them a run-down of the events.

“Tomorrow, I want you to start interviewing the Gryffindors, then we will look at the wider school,” Prroudfoot told them as the highest-ranking Auror. “Tonight, we will interview the Fifth Year Gryffindor Boys before we lose any information.”

“Ok, we will secure the dorm room and process it,” Captain Warrington answered him. The Captain gave him some folders on each of the four boys. Tonks was astonished at how quick they had got some information. She, herself, spoke briefly with Proudfoot telling the man everything she knew about Harry and his dorm mates.

Tonks followed her partner out of the room and into the Great Hall, where all the students were talking. They approached Professor McGonagall, her arms crossed with one hand tapping her arm. Light glinted of the teacher’s House ring catching Tonks eye for a moment until she looked into the stern face of her former deputy headmistress.

“Professor, we require—” Proudfoot consulted his piece of parchment, “Seamus Finnegan, Dean Thomas, Neville Longbottom and Ronald Weasley.”

“Is it not a bit late to interview them?” Professor McGonagall asked.

“No, while it is fresh in their minds it is best to interview them,” Tonks replied for her partner. The Deputy headmistress just hummed and nodded. She sent a prefect to gather the four boys.

“We have set you up a proper interview room here on the fourth floor,” the Gryffindor Head of House told them. McGonagall showed them to the room. Proudfoot took a seat behind the desk with Tonks set up with a small desk nearby. She set up the dicta-quill and parchment. The Head of House stayed to act in loco-parentis for all four boys. Dean Thomas strode in first, the tall dark skinned athletic boy looked unusually sombre. The interview barely took any time as Proudfoot questioned the fifteen-year-old as the lad gave his explanation of where he had been.

Neville quickly followed and his interview was the same, done quickly and efficiently. Though he was one of the first people on the scene, so he had a bit more information than his dorm mate. The sandy-haired fifteen-year-old Seamus Finnegan entered next. Tonks was instantly on alert, something in his posture set her off. After going through the opening questions Proudfoot looked at the boy.

“You say you were in the common room?” Proudfoot asked, also noticing the twitching fingers of the boy.

“Yes, with Lavender Brown and Dean Thomas,” Seamus answered. The boy’s eyes flickered to the right, almost as though he was looking at McGonagall. Proudfoot shuffled through some parchment then read what was written down for several minutes.

“Mister Thomas failed to mention that you were with him,” the man stated.

“Perhaps he forgot,” Seamus replied with a slightly nervous laugh.

“Maybe, are you sure you were with this pair?” the Auror stared at the boy with deep brown eyes.

“Yes, I was snogging Lavender,” Seamus stated casually, feeling more confident. Proudfoot knew he was hiding something but was not sure what exactly.

“Ok, I think we are done here. You may leave,” Proudfoot said finally after a few minutes. The teen was eager to leave as Proudfoot leaned back in the chair contemplating the boy.

“Ronald Weasley for you,” a seventh-year prefect opened the door allowing a confident redhead to enter. The boy took a seat looking at the senior Auror.

“Auror Captain Callum Proudfoot and Junior Auror Nymphadora Tonks interviewing Ronald Weasley on the Twenty-sixth of September Nineteen Ninety-Five at Eleven Twenty-one PM. Deputy Headmistress Minerva McGonagall acting as Loco Parentis.” Tonks looked over the parchment, reading what the dicta-quill was writing. She looked up at Proudfoot giving him a nod. Proudfoot quickly went through the basic questions such as full name, age, residence, and parents’ names.

“Now, we have interviewed a couple of people. Can you tell us what happened this evening?”

“I’m not really sure, to be honest,” Ron scratched his ear, a slight glow on his face. “I was down in the Common Room playing as game of Wizarding Chess when we all heard a scream. The book-worm quickly ran up to the dorm followed by a prefect and Longbottom. Soon Professor McGonagall and come in, then Black was taken out towards the Hospital Wing, I assume.”

“I have been told you are not on the best terms with Lord Rendlesham and Miss Granger,” Proudfoot stated slightly taken aback by the venom in the redhead’s voice.

“We’re not friends, yeah, but I wouldn’t hurt him. I thought he was going to date my sister,” Weasley suggested casually. Tonks almost snorted but knew that would be unprofessional.

“That would be Ginevra Weasley, correct?” Proudfoot consulted his notes.

“Yeah, Gin and Harry seem to really get on. So how can I hate him, if he ends up my brother-in-law,” Weasley sat back looking smug. Proudfoot asked several more questions at different angles until the door slammed open making everyone jump. Albus Dumbledore strode in looking stern.

“I think it is time the interviews ended,” the once-grandfatherly visage gone.

“Headmaster, I was assured of your cooperation in these matters,” Proudfoot replied. McGonagall ushed the smirking redhead out of the room and the Captain knew the interview was over.

“You do, but it is getting late now. Surely, the students should be in bed,” Dumbledore seemed to change tactic.

“That was our last interview for the evening,” Proudfoot pointed out. “I only had a few more questions.”

“Well, you can ask them tomorrow. His mother will be here to sit in on his interviews.”

“Professor McGonagall is quite capable of acting in Loco Parentis,” Tonks spoke up getting a glare from her superior.

“She is very capable, Nymphadora. However, she is NOT the boy’s guardian. His guardian wishes to be present for the interview and is bringing a law-wizard,” the older man answered. Tonks nearly growled at the use of her full name.

“Why does he need a law-wizard, does the boy have something to hide? Do you?” Tonks blurted out before she could reign herself in. Dumbledore turned his steely eyes in the Junior Auror, then back to her superior.

“I believe your partner needs to learn to keep silent.”

“Indeed, she does,” Captain Proudfoot agreed. Tonks seethed at her superiors’ words. “Thank you, Headmaster, we shall continue our interviews tomorrow.”

“Very well,” the grandfatherly look had returned, and he bowed leaving the room, closing the door behind him. Immediately spell fire race around the room warding it. The portraits went blank, and nothing could enter the room.

“That old goat-shagging peacock. Something smells at Hogwarts, and it is coming from the top,” Tonks let out before she could help herself. Proudfoot settled back in his chair rubbing his nose.

“I agree, there is something suspicious about Ronald Weasley. And Dumbledore wanted us off his trail,” Callum Proudfoot agreed. Tonks turned on him in astonishment.

“You seemed to agree with him, cosying up to the man.”

“Tonks, you have a lot to learn,” the older auror laughed, “I have to make nice, so he doesn’t get sceptical of us and close down all our avenues of investigation.”

“Ah, Ok, sorry,” Tonks replied with humility.

“Right, let’s join the rest of the team to see if they have learnt everything,” Proudfoot told his partner as he gathered up the folders and parchment on the desk.

29th September

Harry floated in a sea of darkness, occasional flashes of light and conversations drifted past him as he tried to remember where he was, but nothing seemed to be working. The Boy Who Lived did not know how long he was in the dark place before it seemed to grow lighter as the pain began to emanate from his thigh. He cried aloud.

“Madam Tonks, I think he is waking up,” the voice of an angel spoke. Harry blinked his eyes open, seeing only blurry objects above him. It smelled like he was in a hospital. The last thing he remembered was talking to Colin, but nothing after that. “Here.”

“Thanks,” Harry tried to say as someone handed his glasses to him. When the dark-haired boy could see again, he realised Hermione was standing over him looking pale.

“Harry, take this,” Aunt Andi came over, handing the boy a flagon of iridescent green potion. He looked at it, screwed up his face and swallowed the potion down in one go. Surprisingly, the taste was not too bad. Andromeda smiled at him. “Narcissa has been providing me with potions instead of Professor Snape.”

“What happened?” Harry asked scratchily. Hermione handed him over a glass of water so he could take small sips from the glass.

“You were attacked by a snake, ooh Harry, someone tried to murder you,” Hermione explaining flinging her arms around Harry. The boy was quite stunned as his girlfriend did not usually get this emotional. He looked over her shoulder to see it was night outside the window.

“How long have I been out?”

“About three days, you were damn lucky your girlfriend caught the creature that bit you. Otherwise, we might not have been able to save you,” Andi looked a tad upset herself. “Your father has only just left your bedside an hour ago when I chased him out.”

“Is he mad?” Harry asked, trying to move, but his left leg would not cooperate with him for some reason. “Why can I not move my leg?”

“The neurotoxins of the snake have caused damage to your thigh. We are going to have to perform several spells while we do physical therapy, though I warn you, your leg may never be the same again,” Andi told him sadly.

“Will I be able to play Quidditch? Will I make the first game?”

“Your first game is the end of October?” She got a nod, “then yes, you should have enough mobility to play your first game and be able to play Quidditch in general.”

“Well, there is some good news,” Harry sighed.

“I will leave you alone; call if you need anything,” Andromeda told the pair, then returned to her office to go over some paperwork. Harry realised Hermione was half hanging off the bed.

“Well, this is not how I anticipated getting you into my bed for the first time,” Harry joked as he moved over slightly so that Hermione could settle next to him.

“Oh, so you have been thinking of getting me into bed, Mr Black?” Hermione looked at her boyfriend with an arched eyebrow. Harry flushed bright red.

“That’s Lord Rendlesham to you, darling,” he drawled just like Draco used to.

“If you think I am going to call you Lord Rendlesham, you have another thing coming,” Hermione poked him in the side before settling her head on his shoulder. “Harry, how much Defence Against the Dark Art’s did Remus and Sirius teach you over the summer?”

“Quite a lot, though the physical side might be useless now that my leg is dodgy,” Harry failed to joke. He got a serious look from Hermione, “why?”

“After what happened with Colin, I think Umbitch is going to get the Defence Club cancelled. I wondered if you might tutor me privately?” Hermione asked, though her face flushed bright red from the innuendo.

“Why, Miss Granger, are you propositioning me?”

“Well, I have already got a little personal with you. Who do you think has been messaging your leg for the last three days?” Now it was Harry’s turn to blush as he imagined Hermione messaging his leg. He shifted uncomfortably as his body began to react. Hermione just laughed at his squirming.

“Look, can I just think about the Defence thing. I do not know how my leg is going to be yet.” Hermione nodded before getting comfortable, allowing the two to enjoy the silence in the presence of each other. “Did Andi say anything about being out tomorrow?”

“No, but you have just woken up.”

“I was thinking about our Wizarding Etiquette lessons,” Harry returned, unconsciously rubbing his hand up and down Hermione’s back.

“I am pretty sure Susan and Neville can handle it,” Hermione answered, almost spitting out Susan’s name. Harry looked at her.

“Are you jealous?” he asked, trying to hide a grin.

“No, why would I be jealous?” came the return though her voice was higher than usual.

“The way you say, Susan, makes me think you may be jealous,” Harry returned casually, staring at the ceiling.

“Fine, the girl is pretty, and has got a great body, of course, I am jealous,” Hermione snapped.

“The Great Hermione Granger is human; she can be jealous,” Harry crowed, getting a harrumph from his girlfriend who turned over, so her back was to him.

“No need to shout it to the world,” Hermione replied bitterly. Harry realised he had hit a sore spot. He tried to turn to reach her but moaned in pain. Instantly she had turned over to look at him with concern. Harry stroked Hermione’s cheek then gently kissed her.

“I do not want to be with Susan, or Cho, or anybody else. I choose you; you are so special to me,” He told her. Hermione had tears in her eyes as she carefully cuddled up to her man.

“You are so sweet, Harry. You always seem to know the right words to help me.” Harry’s hand returned to her back.

“Good evening, Lord Rendlesham, it is a pleasure to see you awake,” a deep voice spoke. Harry looked up to see his cousin, Tonks, and a strange man. The man wore grey robes with a vambrace on his right arm and shoulder pads on his left.

“Wotcher Tonks,” Harry greeted his cousin with a grin.

“Lord Rendlesham, this is Captain Proudfoot, Senior Auror. He and I are investigating the attack on you,” Tonks spoke, uncharacteristically serious.

“Did you wait until his Grace has left before ambushing my patient?” Aunt Andi stalked over to Harry’s bed.

“No, Madam Tonks. We came to get an update on Lord Rendlesham’s condition but found him awake,” Proudfoot bowed slightly. Harry could see a glint of humour in the man’s eyes and knew he would like him.

“Well, he is not ready to be interviewed yet,” Madam Tonks answered.

“Yes, Ma’am. I have learnt never to argue with a healer,” Proudfoot stepped back raising his hands in defeat.

“You may return tomorrow. If Lord Rendlesham is well enough to talk, you may interview him then,” the older witch told the pair sternly.

“Yes, Ma’am.” Tonks tried not to laugh at the senior Auror cowed by the healer. Proudfoot turned to the teens, “Goodnight Lord Rendlesham, Miss Granger.”
